Hi everyone,
I have a Kali Linux Purple VM running as a guest OS which recently started locking up / freezing after some time. Can be 10 minutes, can be 60. When I look into the kernel logs with journalctl those log lines stand out, before before the hard shutdown I have to initiate to get the system in a usable state again:
Apr 03 22:57:08 kali kernel: sched: RT throttling activated
Apr 03 22:57:32 kali kernel: watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 23s! [async-io:112899]
Has anyone ever encountered that behavior before? I am running on a Thinkpad T14 with a quadcore 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz and 48GB of RAM. The machine has plenty of allocated ressources: 4 cores and 16GB of RAM.
The host is rather idle, when the crash is happening, so I wouldn't guess that it is some sort of ressource exhaustion bug. I also don't experience that behavior on other machines, like another Kali VM (non-purple/vanilla).
Any idea how I can progress with the diagnosis from here? Thanks and best regards!
