Server 2008 Won't Finish Booting After Snapshot

I built a Windows 2008 R2 VM.  Installed SQL Server 2008 R2, Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and a bunch of class files for teaching a class.

Everything seemed fine.  Rebooted a zillion times during installs and patching, etc...

After everything was installed I shut it down and took a snapshot so i couold revert back each time I wanted to start a new class.  Ever since the snapshot, it will no longer boot up properly.

I get the little Microsoft progress meter typical of WIndows 2008 initial boot and then a black screen.  Nothing ever happens after that.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome
Not sure what went wrong ...

You said you was never able to boot after the snapshot was created ?
Then that snapshot should have no important data yet ...

Is this the first snapshot of that VM ?

post a filelisting and the vmx-file and ALL the vmware.logs - zipped into one file

It was able to boot, just seemed that you couldn't see the login screen.  You could see a mouse cursor and move it around, but everything else was black.  Safe mode would work just fine.  It must have been a video driver issue.  Base video finally got me in.

Thanks.
