This is on VMware® Workstation 7.1.6 build-744570
Trying to install ubuntu from iso image :ubuntu-13.04-desktop-i386.iso
After a little while system hangs waiting for vmware tools to install.
No change after many hours. How long does the install take?
See below.

First of all Ubuntu 13.04 isn't supported on anything older than version 9 of VMware Workstation and secondly I'd never use Easy Install with a Linux Distro! 
You can try selecting "I will install operating system later" however you'll probably then have issues installing VMware Tools manually as the kernel version used in Ubuntu 13.04 is not supported in VMware Workstation 7. Also I do not recall if there are any third party patches for a VMware Workstation 7 and Ubuntu 13.04 combo, however I guess you can Google it necessary.
