Windows 10 upgrade - network bridge on device VMnet0 not running

Subject: Windows 10 upgrade - network bridge on device VMnet0 not running

A few hours ago Microsoft did an automatic Windows 10 upgrade on my Host machine. Centennial release?

The machine is now Windows 10, 64-bit (Build 14393) 10.0.14393

Running Workstation 12.1.1  Build  3770994

When I first ran Workstation (after the upgrade) I got a message. Something about the keyboard. The real problem is the following:-

"The network bridge on device 'VMnet0' is not running. The virtual machine will not be able to communicate with the host or with other machines on your network. Failed to connect virtual device 'Ethernet0'."

When I look at menu Edit then 'Virtual Network Editor' I see two names VMnet1 and VMnet8. I do not see VMnet0.

How do I get VMnet0 back?

What else can I do to get the network on the Guest working again?

Regards,

  Peter Evans

Thank you for that advice.

This is what I did (expanding on your Solution 1) :-

1. Open 'Virtual Network Editor'.

2. Click button 'Restore Defaults'.

3. Allow Administrator access.

4. Click button OK.

5. Exit Workstation.

6. Rerun Workstation.

I can now see in 'Virtual Machine Settings' :-

  "Network Adaptor   Bridged (Automatic)".

This solution survived a reboot of the host.

Thank you.

Would you please try the below steps?

1. Open Virtual Network Editor and click restore default.

2. If step1 doesn't work, please uninstall Workstation, reboot host and install Workstation again.

Thanks.
