I keep running into issues on my Windows 7 64bit PC running Workstation 7.1.5 build - 491717.
This is while running Win 7, or Win XP VM's.
Attached is the error I get when I try to hook up via bridged.
I reinstalled Workstation, worked for a bit, using bridged networks, and then I try again this morning, bridged doesn't work only NAT. I need to PXE boot, so I need bridged...is this ever going to get fixed? Or anyone know of a fix? I don't want to reinstall every time this occurs.
try to reinstall vmnetbridge from cmd
did you disable automatic bridging already ?
if not do so now via Virtual Network Editor (vmnetcfg.exe)
I am in Virtual Network Editor, but I do not see an area to disable automatic bridging.
select vmnet0 - there should appear a dropdown with a choice of physical nics
select the one you want to use
It is set to Custom, HOST-ONLY. I tried changing it to Bridge, but I get an error : "Cannot change network to bridged ; There are no unbridged host network adapters.
post a screenshot please
does your host has a physical nic? - please specify ...
was it connected during install ?
Yes I have a physical NIC and it was connected during install. It's a optiplex 960, with a INETL 82567LM NIC
open a cmd as admin and run
net start vmnetbridge
report the result
service has already been started
did you have
UAC enabled during setup or any Antivirus-tools enabled during setup ?
dod you use any VPN-clients ?
do you use any Desktop-firewalls such as Commodo or Zonealarm ?
if you feel comfortanle using Windows commandline I would suggest to reinstall vmnetbridge - see
http://sanbarrow.com/network/cmdguide2workstation.html
UAC is OFF.
No firewall software.
I do have mcafee, but I have disabled it during all of this.
try to reinstall vmnetbridge from cmd
That did it ... I will have to create a script to remove, reinstall every time this happens, LOL.
