Hello
Can i deploy a Fault Tolerance on no shared storage in vsphare 5.1
i need to make high -aviailbilty for my sql server my vsphere is 5.1
What is the best plan high -aviailbilty to deploy in vmware cluster for sql data servers?
No, shared storage is required for Fault Tolerance. Best plans for high availability for SQL Server will depend on your requirements. What, exactly, are your requirements for a highly available SQL Server? In short, you can still run Microsoft SQL clusters on vSphere. SQL 2008 still requires shared storage but SQL 2012 AlwaysOn Availability groups do not. If clustering is not required or is not an option, vSphere HA might be good enough. vSphere HA will restart your SQL servers on another ESXi host should one fail.
All the best,
Mike

Remember that FT has some limitations like 1 vCPU maximum... if your SQL servers requires more than 1 vCPU, FT will not be the solution.
Thanks ....
Thanks...
Why i read somehow up for 5.1 for cluster in vsphere vmotion and more dont need share storage for ha and drs and FT ....
Is it even possible to use some of the tools like ha drs vmotion without share storage ? in vsphere 5.1, 5.5 ?
HA and DRS would need shared storage.
Maybe you read about the new Enhanced vMotion in vSphere 5.1 that allow vMotion without shared storage.
