I have just upgraded a host to 6.0 i was hoping to upgrade all hosts in the cluster but when i try to move our VM's over to the newly upgraded 6.0 host it failed
all my other hosts are on 5.1 EP4 - 1612806
the vmware.log of the machine shows vob.vmotion.stream.completion.complete.fail] vMotion migration failed draining stream completion: Bad parameter
I think this vmware kb describes the issue VMware KB: After upgrading from ESXi 5.0/5.1 to 5.5 Update 3b or 6.0 Update 1b, vMotion fails with t...
but the thing is I have nowhere to move the VM's now so I am locked in this 5.1 environment and cant re install newly 5.1 on our old configured host which is now on 6.0
and i cannot power down the VM's and move over they have to stay powered on or install a new 5.5a host as an intermediate to get the VM's across to the 6.0 host
So what can i do now as i have no other options it seems
any suggestions would be much appreciated .
Have you tried reverting back to the previous ESXi version with the boot screen method?
See this article: VMware KB: Reverting to a previous version of ESXi
After that you could you reinstall/upgrade the host to a pre-U1b 6.0 version.
