vmotion between standard switches

Hi

Q - doing vmotion between hypervisors. Standard vswitch only. Same PG configured on both. What would be reason for PG not automatically selected as destination PG on destination host?

Some more details about the current configuration would be helpful.

What issues are you experiencing?

Did you check the "vMotion" checkbox for the vMotion port groups (only) on all hosts? Are the IP addresses/subnet masks configured properly (e.g. no typos)?

Question is not on PG used for vmotion but other PG used for workloads. Issue is that PG is not automatically selected for vmotion.

The port group(s) used for vMotion are those VMkernel PGs which have the vMotion checkbox enabled. Virtual Machine port groups are not used for vMotion.

Ok, that clarifies thing.

You are right, with the same port group names (note that the names are case-sensitive) the destination should be pre-populated.

Does this happen with the Windows based vSphere Client too?

Which version/build of vCenter and ESXi do you use?
