Dear all
Hi
I read this about cpu hot plug :
adding cpu resource to a machine that is running and hot plug has been enabled on that disconnect and resconnect all of usb passthrough devices that are connected to that vm
is that means if i have connected a USB disk to my esxi server during increase cpu with hot plug my usb for a momment will be disconnect ?
BR
do you have any document from vmware saying such a thing.
I dont think the hot plug of CPU should disconnect and reconnect USB devices to the VMs.
please see this document on page 95 :
quote "
Adding CPU resources to a running virtual machine with CPU hot plug enabled disconnects and
reconnects all USB passthrough devices that are connected to that virtual machine. "

Hi Baber,
thank you for sharing the doc.. I stand corrected..
If the doc says so.. but I suspect it will be a momentary disconnection.. I dont think you will have to do anything in that case.
I am not aware of the impact it has on the Applications/Services dependent on the USB from the guest OS perspective
did anyone test that ?
