Guest OS for VCD 5.1

Is there any change concerning the RedHat Ent. Linux as a requirement for installing VCD in version 5.1?

Is there any plan for a VCD virtual appliance?

I understand from a VMworld talk that there will be a vCD appliance for evaluations and testing.  There's already a v1.5 one and a v5.1 one will be released when v5.1 is released.  To access this you need to sign up for a trial and then when you see the kits for download if you scroll down you can find the appliance.

Still 1.5 at present - does anybody know when v5.1 will be released for download / installation?

Good question, Currently the max supported OS for VCD 1.5.1 is RHEL 5 update 7 which is over a year old! Technically you must pin RHEL to U7 to be supported.

Saying that, we have been running 2 Cells on CentOS 6 for almost a year now with no issues..

VMware need to pick up speed on this a little bit in my opinion.
