Unreached Host

Hi Guys!!!

Again I have a trouble, I have a VM that can't reach the gateway. I have two VSwitch connected to the same subnet, I assigned both to the VM but none works, instead other machines connected to same switch run without problem. somebody help me?

Hello,

Please post your VM's vmx file ,output from esxcfg-info -n and your physical switch model.

If other VMs connect to the same virtual switch do works, that means there is no problem on the virtual switch, no problem on the NIC, and no problem on physical network. the problem is the VM itself.

Can the vm ping any other VMs on the same virtual switch? This test is not even reach the gateway yet. I think you need look into the VM itself.

Yeah I would check your network connections (IP address, SUBNET, gateway) as well as drivers (provided by VMWare tools). Sometimes if you verified the IP settings are all correct, reinstall the VMWare tools which would reinstall the drivers.

I don't think this is a problem, since vmnic3 is not used for both virtual switchs. Is it right?

It should not be but why is the mask different for the same network. Something changed and it should be checked on all applicable interfaces.

Hi Mike, my apologies for not respond. Finally I remove this machine and I don't investigate further, the problem is that It is happening to me again now with another machine. Is this would be a problem configuration of the network or ESX?

With the same VM on a different host?

What network is the VM on?

VM Network or VM Network 2?

You have a NIC team what is it connected to?

HP, Cisco?

Are you using a trunk or just 802.1q?
