VMWARE SERVER IN DESKTOP PC

Hi......

This is srinath....i want to know which vmware server product like (vmware vsphere 4, ESI, ESIX) can able install in Desktop PC other than vmware workstation products LIKE (VMWARE WORKSTATION 6.0, 8.0).

You need a dedicated hardware. Look at the compatability guide to find hardware which will work.

Welcome to the forums!

Only VMware Server can be installed on an existing OS like VMware Workstation. ESX(i), which is part of vSphere, is a bare metal hypervisor and can not be used on top of another OS.

VMware Server is free to use.

I have recived the answer.....Then what is basic all system Requirements needed to install Vmware (BAR-METAL) Vsphere to install. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have installed VMWARE WORKSTATION 7 on WINDOWS 7

OPERATING SYSTEM in my pc and I chose the VMNET1 (HOST ONLY). I able to

connect from host operating system to VMWARE HOST WINDOWS XP.But am not

able to connect from vise versa. I have found no gateway as assigned to

VMWARE HOST XP.Kindly give the solution HOW TO ASSIGN GATEWAY TO THE

VMWARE HOST.I want to do only in VMNET1.I have attached theIMAGE with

Thanks for the reply.

I would like to assign ip address to the Vmware Hosts using NAT (VMNET8). I done it .But how to change the Prefrred DNS ip address to the host os in VMWARE WORKSTATION 7. An option over their to change DNS ip address in NAT properties, but it has not worked.

I have attached the image with this post.

Hi.....

I have configured VMWARE WORKSTATION 7 and istalled 2 XP OS and 1 WINDOWS 2003 SERVER 0S. I have membered the both the XP OS to Domaincontroller..I have configured the DHCP SERVER in windows 2003 server,i would like to give DHCP IP ADDRESS to Both XP OS. But the 2 XP OS getting AUTOMATIC IP ADDRESS from VMWARE DHCP SERVER.Kindly give the Solution for how get the IP ADDRESS from Windows 2003 SERVER DHCP SERVER.

Select Edit > Virtual Network Editor. In the Virtual Network Editor screen select the network that the virtual machines are connected to and uncheck "Use local DHCP service to distribute IP address to VMs".
