Validate SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation Failed - Windows 2008 SP2 - Cluster Across Box - Clustered Virtual Disk .vmdk

2 ESX nodes running ESXi 5.5 U2 with Standard VMware License in Cluster

2 Guest servers running Windows 2008 SP2 Enterprise Edition x 32 bit

Both Guest Servers are placed across the ESX nodes (Cluster Across Box Concept)

While i try to run the cluster validation report it fails with below error. any idea? am i missing something? We do a similar setup which is already UP and running on a different ESX cluster where the only difference is those ESX nodes are running on VMWare Enterprise License.

Successfully put PR reserve on cluster disk 0 from node server1.mydomain.com while it should have failed

Cluster Disk 0 does not support Persistent Reservation

Test failed. Please look at the test log for more information

Note: If i move both Guest server to the same ESX host and run the validation report it completes successfully.

Seems like you're using a shared virtual disk (vmdk) to implement cluster across box, but this is not supported, you have to use a RDM if you want CAB:

Thanks for the reply, Richardson. Yes, i have reviewed the same document from VMWare which says that the configuration which i currently have in place is not supported. However as i mentioned, we do have another set of Clustered Virtual machines running on a different cluster which exact similar configuration and the only difference is OS is Windows 2008 R2 64 bit.

i am just trying to figure out if i have missed something on the configuration which i am trying to setup.
