Hi @ all. Im new here and hopefully someone can help me with my special problem.
Is it possible running a virtuel machine with physical network-adapter?
Example:
I've a host-system with 2 NIC's.
NIC 1 is in Subnet 1 for network-acces with host
NIC 2 is in Subnet 2 for network-access with guest
Because our Security-Level, the Host-system is allowed only using Subnet 1 and the guest-system is allowed only using Subnet 2
For sure both NIC's are installed on the host-system but only NIC1 is configured on host.
HI,
Can you be please more specific what virtualization system you want to use? Will be vSphere, Workstation, Server?

Hi,
im using a vmware-server 2.0.1
Host-System is a Windows Server 2008 Standard
PS: If i need another vmware-version which supports physical access on nic's, i'm able to buy them.
To dedicate a NIC, use the Virtual Network Editor (vmnetcfg.exe) to
disable automatic bridging and then create a bridged network just on
the NIC that you want the guest to use and make sure that this is the
NIC that the guest has assigned to it. Probably also worth taking off
the VMware Bridging Protocol from the NIC that you won't be using. If
both NICs are conencted to the same subnet, I'd also take File and
Print services off the NIC used for bridging and ensure any other
services on the host, e.g. DNS, aren't bound to that NIC either. Not
sure if this is going to solve your problem though - I'd set up host
perfmon logging to see if I could see resource issues when the user's
experienced problems.

ok it seems to run like that:
turn off automatic bridging
associate an physical network-adapter (NIC2) with a virtual network adapter (vmnet0)
configure your virtual machine using the associated virtual network (vmnet0)
on physical network adapter (host-system/NIC 2) turn off all services, ipv4 and ipv6 in exception Vmware Bridge Protocol and driver for topology
configure virtual network adapter on running virtual machine
