We need to copy some files to the server, and would like to do this from a GUI interface.

Will do this over SSH and you will need to use a priviledged account.

If you are copying files between your worksation and ESX hosts I would look at Veeam's FastSCP. I have found it to be about 4 x faster, on average, than WinSCP.
