Add host to cluster error

Hi,
I'm trying to add another host to a cluster but getting this error.
Error: The name '10.2.160.101' already exists.

I have tried with ip address and host name.

Host: ESXi 4.1

vCenter 4.1

10.10.160.101 was a member of vCenter and the cluster already as ESX 4.0.

It was removed from the cluster and vCenter and reinstalled with ESXi 4.1.

Now I'm trying to re-add it to the same cluster. I have even created a new test cluster but when adding this host to new cluster I'm getting the same error.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Pawel

Hi,

Have you restarted your vcenter server/service, just to rule that out?

you may want to look into the vCenter DB and manually remove it.  This is an example on how to do it, but as always make sure you have a backup of your database just in case.

Got it wrong.

10.2.160.101 was already under a Folder in vCenter so I thought that right click on Cluster [Add host...] will move/add it under a Cluster. It looks like it doesn't work this way.

Removing it from vCenter and adding a host directly to the Cluster has worked. Sorry for my ignorance...

Thanks.

Pawel
