I have just done a clean install of VC 2.5.0 Update 1 (Build 84767) and I appear to be missing the Guided Consolidation option. It was there with the vanilla 2.5.0 that was there before, but not any more.
Any suggestions as to what may have happened to it?

In update 1 it appears Consolidation is not enabled so I navigated to c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\
and removed the following lines from the vpxd.cfg file and rebooted the server.
<vcp2v>
<dontStartConsolidation>true</dontStartConsolidation>
</vcp2v>

Looks like the install is not automated any longer. If you mount the cd/iso, go to the vpx folder, and run the CapacityPlanner.exe install manually, you should be able to install without issue.

My button didn't fully show up until after I also rebooted the vc server, after I ran the CapacityPlanner.exe installer.

Hello,
i installed CapacityPlaner.exe too and didn't get the button after reboot.

The CP service was already installed and running on my VC server; running the CapacityPlanner.exe just uninstalled it.
I tried reinstalling the CP again, but still no button.
Yes, just to be safe, I uninstalled what was there, becaue the button was gone. Then reinstalled it using the .exe. Checked services to make sure the capacity planner service was running. Then restart my vc host.
Did you get your button back? I've done this twice now, and running capacity planner to remove, and then to re-install has given me back my consolidation button everytime.
Not sure if you've already tried this as well, but choose custom install and make sure everything is checked.

Still no luck - I've even tried rebooting between removing and reinstalling the CapacityPlanner and there's still no button.
Hello
I tried a fresh install, but no CapacitiyPlanner available.

That worked, thanks.
What a stupid decision on the part of VMWare to ship it disabled without any easy way to enable it or documentation about it.
This is really annoying!
I found this Thread via Google.
And now it works, but i can't understand why this is disabled either...
Best regards
