This vCentre Server 4.0 works with vSphere host well. After put lic into Licence server, it can't connect to VMware 3.5 host.
The error message is
No licece for perform this opearation
License Server on vCenter Server XXX doesn't include the vCenter agent of ESX.
Please updated licese on License Server.
Do it mean the lic which put into License Server needs to update? Is the lic on vCenter Serve 2.5 different with that one on vCenter Serve 4.0 ?
I only know vCenter Serve 4.0 can't run on 32bit system.
Thanks!
The Lic model for vSphere and ESX 3.x is different. There is no need of License server for vSphere .But still you can connect the ESX 3.x hosts to the vCenter 4.0 ...but you cant add ESX 4.0 hosts to the vCenter 2.5 (which uses lic server)
Best option is to upgrade the lic to be compatible to vSphere 4.0 with no extra cost.Contact VMware support ...they will guide on the Lic part

Hi,
if you upgrade to vCenter 4.0 (you need to have update support to be able to) your esx 3.5 will work when are managed from the vCenter.
And vCenter can run in a 32 bit system. It's vCenter 4.1 that must run in a 64 bit system.
Hep this helps

Do you mean if vCentre needs to updat to suppport ESX3.5 or my 3.5 needs to update?
thanks!
Hi,
what i tried to explain is that if the vcenter is upgraded to vCenter 4.0, then the esx 3.5 hosts will continue to work without any problem.
Anyway is recommended to upgrade the esx hosts to vSphere.
