I'm not sure if this is a vCenter or vSphere issue but...
I'm trying to setup Power Management on my Intel S7000FC4UR server systems. When I go into vCenter and try to enter the BMC settings I get an error "The request failed because the remote server took too long to respond". Supermicro has a little utility "IPMI View", with that I can connect just fine to the BMC port on the vSphere host, so I know I have IPMI configured correctly.
Is there something else I'm missing on the VMware side?
Hi David,
Not sure to be of any help, but you can have a look at this kb about distributed power management prerequisites.
Good luck

Franck
That KB is mostly about Wake-on-Lan. And, yes, I could do that, but since vCenter/vSpeher supports IPMI and it's built into my server I was more curious as to why IPMI in particular wasn't working in my environment. But thanks.
Anyone else?
