USB drive as datastore?

Is it possible to add an external USB TB drive to serve as a datastore?  If so, how?

It is not possible to use a USB drive as a datastore. You would be better adding a NAS device to the network that supports NFS or iSCSI. You might also look at eSATA although you won't get hot plug capability with ESXi.
