Update Manager slow since upgrade to Update 2.

Morning all,

For some reason since I upgraded my VCEN server to Update 2 if I run a scan on one of my ESX hosts for updates, or tell it to remediate it takes a good 5mins or more before it actually starts to do something. Prior to the upgrade this would kick off into life as soon as I told it to go - now it stays in "In progress" for a while before doing anything.

Has anyone seen anything similar?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

I have the same issue here. I was looking for an answer here but I could not find anything listed. I also could find nothing releated to this in the knowledge base.

Anyone else with this issue ????

Dave,

Strange one this - never did get the root of it. However I am in the process of migrating from ESX 3.5 to ESX3i and those new installations update faster than ever so I'm guessing it's just a bug with the non-integrated version.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

We've seen the same problem since Update 2. I just went to Update 3 on my VC server and am in the process of pushing out ESX 3.5 Update 3 to all of our hosts. Our hosts are all Update 2 (with the license bug patch installed) and it's taking about 8 hours to go through a 7 host cluster! I don't remember how slow the U2 rollout was (just remember it being way slower than pre-U2) but it almost seems like U3 might even be slower. As anybody gotten anywhere on this?

I am currently in the process of upgrading all our ESX host to Update 3 and I am finding VMware Update Manager U3 is very very slow. It's horrible poor but it is getting the job done just very slowly sucks!

Same problem for me...

Ditto here. VC U3 is taking forever to update just one host. Sometimes 10 minutes between install tasks.
