What are the requirements to safely backup vCSA 5.5 using embedded DB?

Also,  how do you restore using VDP if vCenter is down/needs to be restored?

Hey MattG,

you can backup the VCSA using VDP. Not sure if I would recommend it though.

In case your VCSA crashes, you would have to deploy a new Appliance, add your ESXi host and register the VDP appliance to the new VCSA. Then you can do a restore.

I would rather choose a backup solution for VCSA that's able to restore without a running vCenter Server. Can't tell you which one though, as I'm still running the Windows vCenter in production
