vCenter Server essentials

Hi to all ,

I'm new to this community ,

We are planning to deploy vSphere Essentials Plus kit , Which comes with vCenter Server Essentials ,

1. question is , is this Windows based vCenter Server or Linux based vCenter Server Appliance,

2. furthur more any Database is required or this essential comes bundled with Database , how abt same in Appliance.

3 .to run vcenter appliance any suse linux server is required ?

1. presently having Dell R710 ( 2 X intel xeon , hexa core E-5645 , 2.4 GHz ) & HP DL 180 G6 ( 2 X Intel xeon processor E - 5620 ,4 Cores ,2.4 GHz ),

are these compatible for  HA

Plan to run 4 VM's on these 2 servers

DC , ADC , Sharepoint & Antivirus .

can i get some inputs on these ,

which one is advisible having shared storage or vsphere storage appliance

Hi and welcome to the community,

Here are some answers to your questions, I hope this will clarify some things to you otherwise you should start with the vSphere 5 evaluation guide.

1. Afaik, this is the Windows version.

2. SQL Express is bundled with vCenter Server installation. Appliance got a build in database but can be configured with external database.

3. It's a appliance, everything you need is in there. Afaik, no additional license is required.
