I was attempting to convert a machine and got an error about Ufad server not running. Another discussion talked about repairing or reinstalling the converter program. I tried to repair it and for the error "Failed to register the extension." I uninstalled the application, rebooted, tried re-installing and got the same error. I see nothing in the system logs as to about what the problem may be. Can anyone provide insight? This is the converter that came with update 4.
Thanks
Ken

Could you attach the installer's log? It is located in %temp% folder usually in "\Documents and settings\%username%\Local settings\Temp".
check registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.
do you as admin and SYSTEM have full access ?

As far as skipping the settings... it won't let me. I do have a ticket open with vmware but am not getting much for response. Mind you I did put it in as a low priority.
are the credentials yopu entered in to the installer-screen working with ViClient ?

Yes. Administrator, mine (kaavallone) and the generic (virtualcenter). All work in the ViClient.
slowly running out of ideas ...
do you have VisualC runtime 2005 and 2008 working ?

Only one installed is Visual C++ 2008 -x86 9.0.21022. Think I need the 05?
Installed the 2005 version as well. As well as repaired .net 2.0 install. Same issue. sigh
Tech support had me uninstall and reinstall the whole virtualcenter server. We made backups of databases and system dsn entries. This worked! Yay!
Thanks everyone for the help with trying to get this resolved.
