Whether Patch management can be done through VMware Update Manager in vCenter Server Appliance as in like vCenter Server

Hi Friends,

Whether host 's patch management can be done through Vmware Update manager in vCenter Server Appliance as like in vCenter Server.

Tell me other differences between them...

1 . Yes we can connect to the appliance using the vSphere client.

2. During installation of the update manager it will ask for the VCenter information and that will Integrate it automatically no special steps required.

3. No conflict. Its Just like you have two vCenter servers, But you cannot have two vCenter servers managing the same Hosts.

Hello,

you cannot install the update manager directly on the appliance since its not windows, But you could install the update manager on any windows machine and integrate it with the vCenter appliance.

Then Patching remains the same as on vCenter server.

Avinash ... Thanks for it. Need some clarrification on below points.

1. Can we connect the vCenter server Appliance through vSphere client as like we connect the vCenter server to manage Hosts. (any console difference)

2. How could we integrate vCenter Appliance with the Windows Server having Windows Update Manager installed. Any steps ?

3. Can we have both vCenter Appliance and vCenter Server in the same environment.  Any conflict in it.
