Have all pools on the old NetApp using FC block storage. Want to move them to the new NetApp on NFS storage.
What procedures will we need to execute to get this done?
You would edit the pool settings and chang the dataastore for that pool to the new location. After then you can go into the View composer options of the pool and select the rebalance task. It should move everythign to the new datastore location.
If the desktops are linked clones you can utilize the Rebalance option to migrate them to the new datastore. If they are full desktops you can utilize svmotion to move them over.
If these are full clones created by View you can simply move them across to the new datastore at the vCenter level (migrate...change datastore) without having to worry about reconfiguring View. For linked clones you should use the rebalance functionality. If instead these are thin images created by a NetApp tool, then you should check their documentaion for the most space-efficient way of migrating the images.
Thank you both -
We have a mix of full desktops and composer pools. So for the composer pools, how does "rebalance" work - when I do a rebalance, does it prompt for a storage location or something?

fantastic, and thank you again.
Will this have the same or similar effect as "recomposing" also, or will this simply "move" the images to the new location?
It will have the same effect as a recompose.
