I have install ESX 3.01 on my server (HP DL380G5) with VT disable in the bios.
Now I want to run windows 2003 X64, and ESX send me : "The CPU of the host is incompatible with the CPU feature requirements of virtual machine; problem detected at CPUID 0x80000001 register 'edx'."
So, I enable VT in Bios.
Now, my server start correctly, VM start, but i can't access VM with console.
Somebody, know the solution ?
After enabling VT, is it necessary to reinstall ESX on the server ?
For the VT. I enable it after an ESX install and didnt had any problem with my ESX after.
For the console access do you use Vcenter or directly from the server?

the both ...
After reboot and disable VT: no problem with console ...
But, I want to validate VT ...
How strange! I'd try a reinstall if you can afford the downtime, it doesn't take long, usually less than trying to troubleshoot awkward issues anyway!
I will try tomorrow morning ...
After reinstall (and flash the bios) this will work !
perhaps another problem ... but this is a fresh install ...
Another question: in the GUI, HyperThreading is mark as "Enabled (Not Active)".
I don't find HyperThreading option in the bios of my HP DL380G5.
is it useful and/or better for performance to validate HyperThreading ?
Is it a dual or quad core processor? If so, HT is not available on these processors. So you've got it 'enabled' in ESX but the proc doesn't support it. You can disable it if the message offends you but it doesn't make any difference.
thanks
